IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL) organized the webinar “Fifty years after the Stockholm Conference: The long road towards the formulation of binding global principles of environmental protection” scheduled for Monday, 31 May 2021 at 13:00 Central European Summer Time (CEST).

The webinar was hosted in collaboration with the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment and the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance. The Director General of the Global Pact Coalition, Yann Aguila, intervened as speaker on the importance of binding global principles of environmental protection.

The webinar opened WCEL Environment Week, a 5-day webinar series designed to explore emerging issues in environmental law leading up to 2021 World Environment Day on Saturday, 5 June 2021. The other webinars focus on the role of environmental law to address global climate change, protect forests and oceans, and support environmental law enforcement.
