Paris Peace Forum

11 November 2018 - 13 November 2018
Paris, France

The Global Pact for the Environment was presented at the first Paris Peace Forum that was held in Paris from the 11th to the 13th of November. On the centennial of the armistice of the First World War, the Great Hall of La Viette hosted for three days many actors of the world governance: States, international organizations, local governments, NGOs and foundations, companies, journalists and citizens.

At the plenary session on the challenges of global governance, bringing together many Heads of State and Government on Sunday 11 November, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, implicitely spoke about the Global Pact for the Environment declaring that “ Ultimately, and this is a great concern of President Macron, the codification of the main principles of environmental law would provide predictability and clarity“.

On Monday, November 12, a conference presenting the Pact brought together over 300 people around Laurent Fabius, the President of Senegal, Macky Sall, the President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, Mrs. Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, a Chadian environmental activist and the Vice-president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Pierre Heilbronn.
