On February 7th, 2018, , the Inter-American Court of Human Rights released an advisory opinion adopted on November 15th 2017, which had been requested by Colombia.
This opinion makes very clear the connection between human rights and the protection of the environment. It recalls the duty to prevent environmental harm under General International Law, and points out the importance of procedural environmental rights. It also mentions a right to a healthy environment.
