World leaders met in Glasgow from 31 October to 13 November 2021 to negotiate the way forward to fight the climate crisis. As its name indicates, COP26 was the 26thConference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change as well as the third meeting of the parties to the 2015 Paris Agreement.
The Global Pact for the Environment was invited to speak on the opening day of the COP at the French Pavilion. Our special advisor, Lionel Chami, presented the role of international law in the fight against the climate crisis and the need for a Global Pact protecting our environmental rights.
