Virtual Meeting of the American Society of International Law : “Reforming International Environmental Law for the Anthropocene?”

The annual meeting of the prestigious American Society of International Law was held online from the 25th to the 26th of June, 2020.

During the roundtable “Reforming International Environmental Law for the Anthropocène” the Global Pact for the Environment initiative was introduced.

The speakers of this roundtable were Yann Aguila, president of the Environment Commission at the think tank Club des juristes, Deepa Badrinarayana, professor at Chapman University in California, Louis Kotzé, professor at the North-West University of South Africa, and Cinnamon Carlarne, professor at South Carolina University. Their discussions explored the possible solutions for a reinforced International Environmental Law to tackle the current environmental issues. They examined the need to adopt a Global Pact for the Environment in order to better implement International Environmental Law.
