Towards a Global Pact for the Environment? The Initiative’s Origins and Status of Negotiations at the UN [in French]

The webinar held on 17 June 2020 was succes ! A large number of people followed the videoconference from France and abroad. For those who were unable to access the platform or who would like to watch the webinar again, the recording will be shortly available on YouTube.

The webinar was centered on the origins of the Global Pact for the Environment and the current state of negotiations before the UN. It also addressed the relevance of the Global Pact to “build back better” tomorrow’s world. The Covid-19 crisis compels us to rethink our relationship with nature. and a new social contract between humankind and nature now appears necessary to build a sustainable future.

Yann Aguila intervened on behalf of the Global Pact Coalition. He is a Professor at Sciences Po Paris and partner in a Law Firm (Bredin Prat). Prior to joining the bar, he was a judge at the French administrative supreme court, the Conseil d’État. He teaches Public Law and Global Environmental Governance. He chairs the Environment Commission of the Think Tank « Le Club des juristes », at the origin of the Global Pact for the Environment initiative.
